Award Season: 2011 Independent Spirit Nominees Announced

The nominees for the 2011 Independent Spirit Awards were announced Tuesday, which means that it is now officially Awards Season.  This is, for film geeks, pretty much the most exciting time of the year, as it means we finally get to gorge on the fatty fat meat and potatoes substance cinema has to offer while simultaneously debating the merits of everything and getting all 31 flavors of indignant.  Fun!  Awkward transition and here are the nominees...

The least surprising thing here is the omnipresence of The Kids Are All Right.  The most surprising inclusion may be The Last Exorcism, which I'd sort of dismissed as a throwaway.  Any gut reactions?
