Geeky Saturday

The first Saturday in May is always Free Comic Book Day at your local shop.  I've only ever done that once, and I won't be doing it again this year.  You should, though, and in honor of this geektastic first day of May, let's have a brief celebration of much that is holy (or otherwise appreciated) in the land of nerd...
This sketch comes from /Film, who apparently located the diagram in a Starfleet Manual.  For all those who previously thought Star Trek's pesky furballs were some sort of reproducing stuffed animal, consider yourself informed.  Tribbles are like fuzzy earthworms, apparently, with a mouth, a digestive tract, and therefore an anus.  Now, consider that these things pile up chest deep.  What you're presumably dealing with is a mass of breathing, pooping fur thus matting the fur of all the tribbles below.  Granted, I don't know what they're eating.  Does anyone?

In other news, IMAX struck a 20-film deal with Warner Bros. earlier this week that included a position for the third installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman reboots.  The internet got to buzzing, since as far as anyone has heard, the next Batman project has been in development limbo; not yet greenlit.  Well, I guess we can consider it a real deal, as Warner Bros. has gone ahead and announced an actual official release date.  You can expect another Batman film on July 20th 2012.  Assuming, of course, that the world has not yet ended.

Also, the trailer for B-horror movie Pirahna 3-D, which apparently features Richard Dreyfuss, Christopher Lloyd, and Gossip Girl's Jessica Szohr as folks milling around as Spring Break at Lake Victoria turns into a bloodbath of man eating fish.  Guys. Christopher Lloyd is in this.  And Richard Dreyfuss is swirling into a whirlpool.  I don't know if you need to know anything else.
