People. Calm down. Despite rumors to the contrary, it's pretty doubtful that Megan Fox has actually been cast as Catwoman for the third installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman reboot. The "news" comes from the UK Sun, a gossip rag already responsible for the Schumacher-esque rumors that Eddie Murphy would be playing the Riddler and Shia LaBeouf had already been cast as Robin. So, sorry, Brit tabloids, but colour me dubious. Granted, i don't think Megan Fox is the worst possible candidate, she at least has the looks down, but looking at Nolan's track record i'm going to say her casting just doesn't fit in with his usual standards. Barring Katie Holmes, Nolan's leading ladies have typically been accolade-bearing thespians. Case in point: Hilary Swank, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Marion Cotillard, and Ellen Page. The inclusion of Scarlett Johansson in The Prestige came at a time when she wasn't played out and dismal, but had racked up all sorts of Golden Globe nods for quality work. Megan Fox, while i do believe she hasn't yet been given the chance to prove she's anything other than a body, just doesn't seem to be capable of the nuanced layers a Nolan rendering of Catwoman requires. Of course, i already threw my dream casting out there for public consumption a year ago. I'm sticking with my pick. Eva Green FTW.
