Tony Nominations

The American Theatre Wing announced the nominations for the 2009 Tony Awards bright and early this morning. "Billy Elliot" is the big leader here, with a grand total of 15 nominations in the musical categories. Yes, it's actually up against "Shrek the Musical". Wasn't the critical consensus that "Shrek" was abyssmal? Did i miss something? It must not have been a good year for original productions.
Hit the jump for the complete list of nominees.
